With the dwindling amount of burial space in Walnut Grove Cemetery, it was necessary to begin planning new burial grounds to serve the Worthington and Sharon Township communities. In 2002 a formal plan was drafted by the Cemetery Board of Trustees, Advisory Committee, and several consulting firms, that would transform the nine acre lot adjacent to Flint Cemetery into a modern, landmark cemetery capable of meeting the communities needs for many years to come. The new burial ground will incorporate a variety of elements suited to the needs of both the living and the departed, and will accentuate the historic qualities of the current Flint Cemetery.
